Higashiizu is a Town located in the center of the eastern coast of the Izu
Peninsula, surrounded by rich nature. The region covers 77.83 square kilometers and has a population
of 14,600 people. Enveloped by a warm climate,mountains,and the beating sea,everywhere
you look you can see the energetic smiles of the local townspeople as they go about their
daily lives.

Okawa Region
|
The seashore of the Okawa region is the front door of Higashi-Izu. The Lion
Rock seems to roar towards the ocean as it watches cars pass by on the national highway below like
some guardian deity. The red camellias in the Camellia Garden come into full bloom in February,
and the Genji Fireflies dancing at dusk in the Take-ga-sawa Park attract many visitors in June

Hokkawa Area

In the neighboring Hokkawa area,an open-air bath built on the seashore of this rustic fishing
village provides an experience that can't be missed. One can bathe while looking out over the
vastness of the Pacific,so close that you can even feel the spray of the waves.

The Naramoto region maintains the nostalgic feel of an old mountain village and holds the
birthplace of the Higashi-Izu hot springs,the Atagawa spa. Together with Inatori,it is the
picture of Higashi-Izu .The Atagawa Spa is dotted with towers of hot springs where thick
steam erupts gives you a taste of the old hot spring towns. In the summer,the Atagawa Coast
hosts crowds of swimmers,boasting the only sandy beach in town.

Katase and Shirata Region |

Katase and the Shirata region are areas that are currently undergoing development with a new,
anticipated residential area and the preservation of the Shirata River, which is crowded
during fishing season with schools of Amago and ayu,and the mountainside promenade,which
aims to create a sightseeing retreat for those wishing to get closer to nature. |

In the Inatori area,the Higashi-izu hot springs rival the Atagawa Spa,and the image
of the morning sun rising over the ocean is breathtaking. At night,the view of the Izu
Shichito floating far on the horizon,the fishing fires,island lights,and lighthouse lamps
will make for a worthwhile journey. also,marine sports such as diving have become popular
for those visiting Izu Shichito.

Inatori Hosono Highlands |

The Inatori Hosono Highlands,one of the foremost mountainsides in Japan,boast a moderate
climate that is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. In the springtime,the wild plants
sprout,and one can enjoy picking these delicious organic vegetables in a grassy field
overlooking the ocean that stretches as far as the eye can see. Paragliders also fly through
the sky,and you can feel what it's like to be a bird floating through the heavens.

Industry |
In terms of industry,mikan,focusing on the New Summer Orange grown at the foot of the
Amagi Mountains in the northwest of town,strawberries,and farm products such as
high-quality,nutritious wasabi,are grown. Flowers such as carnations and snapdragons
flourish inside of greenhouses.
Blessed with a rich fishing industry,fresh seafood is offered to locals and tourists
alike,including the biggest catches in Japan of Kinmedai,and Ise-ebi.

For tourists,we offer the first Girl's Festival in early spring to pray for the health of our
daughters,which is celebrated with the passing down of doll decorations.
Moreover,many large and small festivals are also held throughout the year,such as the "Dontsuku
Festival",also known as the festival of world wonders,held in early summer,or the "Charming
Flame",fireworks display at the Katase Hot springs on summer evenings,or the "Atagawa Sea Fireworks
Competition.
