Good Design Shizuoka
Products developed and manufactured mainly by small and medium-sized manufacturers in the prefecture with superior design and functions or excellence exhibited in the manufacturing process are eligible for the "Good Design Shizuoka" award. Since the beginning of the award in 1993, 231 products and development and manufacturing activities have received the award. Most of the products are highly recognized in the market. Shizuoka Prefecture is committed to widely introducing the selected products to the prefectural residents and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), improving their attitude toward and awareness of manufacturing, and promoting high-value added manufacturing.

A total of 22 products have been designated as traditional crafts, three by the national government and 19 by the Shizuoka prefectural government.

Fujinokuni Selection of New Product
This competition began in 1994 as an effort to promote development of processed food using local farm and marine products as a project to promote local production and local consumption. Local food by SMEs and farmers that enter the competition are screened by experts to select outstanding products.

Shizuoka Certification Program for Farm and Marine Products
Shizuoka Prefecture began a certification program in 2006 to recognize the efforts to ensure food safety of farm, animal, and marine (eel) products in the production process. Certified producers use the certification mark and the website that introduces the program to promote their products.

Project to Promote Quality Improvement and Sales of Products from Vocational Aid Centers for the Disabled

This project started in order to promote quality improvement and sales of products from vocational aid centers for the disabled to raise the workers? wages for their financial independence. In the belief that more sophisticated design and functions of such products will lead to the creation of competitive products in the market that will attract more consumers, such facilities jointly manufacture and sell new products that are developed with cooperation from experts. Based on the questionnaire results regarding 33 products participating facilities proudly recommended, a new product was developed in 2006.In fiscal 2007, brand logos were designed for new product development. In 2008, we promoted product development, retail sales and expansion of sales channels
