Shizuoka Stays Number One in New Business Investment

According to the New Business Investment Survey by METI (Ministry of Economics, Trade and Industry), Shizuoka stayed number one in figures of new business investments in the first half of 2008. Shizuoka also became number one by area of new business investment for the first time since 1999.

826 businesses (9.7% decrease compared to the previous year)

976ha (22.7% decrease compared to the previous year)

(2) Shizuoka Prefecture

89 businesses (53.4% increase compared to the previous year)

111ha (98.2% increase compared to the previous year)

 

2. Details in Shizuoka Prefecture

(1) With regard to region, Chuen (Midwest) District has the most new business investment (30 businesses), the second is East-Suruga-Bay District (25 businesses), the third is Seien (West) District (20 businesses), and the fourth is Seishin-Oi District (14 businesses).

(2) Regarding categories of business, transportation machinery has the most new investment, followed by is machinery tools, with metal goods ranking third.
