The National Training Center Shimizu is the city of Shizuoka’s general sports facility for training and recreation by professionals, amateurs and all sports enthusiasts. In addition to its sports facilities, the center offers lodgings and a restaurant housed in a suitably simple, bright design. The center is open to the general public and is enjoyed by local residents of all ages.

Universal Design Elements

  • All barriers have been eliminated to enable smooth travel throughout the center. There are no barriers between the building entrance and reception, or in the training zone, meeting rooms, restaurant, gymnasium, guest rooms or underground aqua zone (pool and sauna).
  • There are two guest rooms with universal design elements and barrier-free oversized bathrooms. Tubs have handles and ample sitting space for easy access by the disabled.
  • Each floor has a multifunctional restroom with diaper changing table.
  • Childcare service is available for center users with young children (reservation required).
  • The center’s easy-to-read signs have oversized lettering on high-contrast backgrounds.

Lodging spaces have wide, bright hallways that let in plenty of natural light.

Universal-design guest rooms are large enough for wheelchair users.
