Yoshida Park

Yoshida Park is well known to local residents as an ideal area for recreation, nature field studies and relaxation. It features a relaxation garden with raised flower beds that give wheelchair users easy access to its flowers, aromatic herb garden, biotope pond, children’s play area and lawns. It has a large parking area and is ideal for family day outings. While the park is run by Shizuoka Prefecture, the prefecture has outsourced its administration to the town of Yoshidacho since 2002. It is the first organization in Shizuoka administered under a new business model based on collaboration between a township and nonprofit organization.

Universal Design Elements

  • The plantings have been specially arranged to maximize sensory appeal. Raised flower beds give wheelchair users flower care access, while a special area lets visually impaired visitors enjoy various flower fragrances.
  • Park roads are wide and family restrooms are provided.
