Governor Suzuki has been serving as the 45th governor of Shizuoka Prefecture since May 2024. Born and raised in Hamamatsu City, he was a member of the inaugural graduating class of the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management. In 2000, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time and served on the Standing Committee on Economy, Trade and Industry. He became the mayor of Hamamatsu in 2007 and served four full terms, spanning 16 years. During his tenure as mayor, he held positions as chair and vice-chair of the Japan Designated Cities Mayors Association.

Throughout his political career, Governor Suzuki has been guided by the words of Mencius, "shisei tsūten," or "sincerity is the way to heaven." This philosophy conveys the idea that genuine and sincere efforts will ultimately be recognized and understood.
